Our interpretive planners and exhibit designers work with public and private organizations to help them implement strategies that aid in the development, protection and growth of historic sites and cultural attractions. These services include:

  • Master plans

  • Exhibit plans

  • Interpretive plans

  • Marketing studies

Our planning clients include local, state, and federal agencies, Main Street programs, historical societies, private tourist attractions, development authorities, museums, private developers, and architects.

Charrettes and Planning Meetings

Often, one of the first steps in a planning project is holding a charrette, or a planning meeting with all project stakeholders. In addition to gathering input, charrettes can be a relatively quick way to resolve differences and to develop a clear path forward for the project. Our interpretive planners are experienced meeting facilitators. We specialize in creating harmony, even on “difficult” boards.

Marketing Studies

Understanding your market will help you expand your audience. Our interpretive planners can work with you to conduct market studies and analysis. Market data will be used to develop and place your message with the most appropriate media outlets.

Working with a Certified Interpretive Planner

Large, complex planning projects may require the services of a Certified Interpretive Planner. The National Association for Interpretation’s rigorous certification process means a planner has demonstrated abilities and has met national standards for interpretive planning. The History Workshop has a Certified Interpretive Planner on staff to assist you.
