The History Workshop developed, designed, and installed a series of interpretive products and hands-on interactive components to tell the story of South Carolina’s first railroad and the impact railroading had on the state and our nation.

In addition to the other elements of the Aiken Railroad Depot, The History Workshop developed a series of interactive displays to connect the topic of late 19th and early 20th century railroad expansion to contemporary technology. Hands-on exhibits encourage visitors to learn about developments in locomotive technology, type Morse code, identify train components, listen to old-timey music and stories, and see how the transcontinental railroad expanded and united our country.
