Rice Museum

Georgetown, South Carolina

The Rice Museum expanded to include new museum space on the second floor of the former Kaminski Hardware store building. For the new space, the History Workshop created exhibits that highlight Georgetown's multicultural history. The largest exhibit focuses on the archaeology of plantations. Other exhibits tell visitors about Joseph Rainey, America's first African American Congressman, and Miss Ruby Forsythe, who taught children in a one-room schoolhouse for 53 years.
