Interpretive Panels

Interpretive panels bring together text, photographs, illustrations, and graphic design. We can create panels using a variety of materials suitable for indoor or outdoor use, from graffiti-proof digital high-pressure laminate to fabric banners. Below is a list of bases and display options for interpretive panels.

Flush Mount to Wall

This option uses two interlocking components to mount the panel securely and invisibly to the wall. Projection from the wall can vary from 1 to 6 inches.

Mounted Inside a Case

Panels can be mounted inside artifact cases. Size may vary from a background panel filling the entire case to a small artifact label.

Mounted Above a Case

Panels can be mounted above cases, either mounted directly to the wall (gator mount or flush mount) or mounted to a connected backing board.

Reading Rail

Reading rails can be mounted to existing posts or furnishings. Standard height will vary with panel size and angle.

Cantilevered Exhibit Base

The cantilevered base is an excellent option for outdoor signs. Standard height is 32" from ground to bottom of panel.

NPS Traditional Exhibit Base

This is the primary type of base used by the National Park Service for outdoor signs. Standard height is 32" from ground to bottom of panel.

Single Pedestal Base

A good option for outdoor signs. Standard height is 32" from ground to bottom of panel. The single pedestal base is also appropriate for smaller signs, such as plant labels.
